£4 million station plans 'will fuel Integra 61 growth'
A multi-million-pound investment is set to bring new jobs and facilities to Durham’s Integra 61 development.
Citrus Durham, part of Citrus Group, has secured a deal with EG On The Move (EGOTM) for a £4 million petrol station, convenience store and Starbucks drive-thru at the 205-acre, £400 million Integra 61 site, based off the A1 near Bowburn, in County Durham.
EGOTM, which operates around 50 sites across the UK, has submitted plans to Durham County Council, with the development expected to open in 2026, creating approximately 70 jobs.
Peta Pank, EG Group acquisitions manager, said: “Our £4 million investment plans for Integra 61 form part of EG On the Move’s expansion and commercial strategies to deliver more new-to-industry sites across the country’s busy road network.
“We are looking forward to progressing plans for this exciting addition to our portfolio.”
David Cullingford, head of development at real estate investment and development company Citrus Group, added: “This new deal will be an excellent addition to our roadside offering at Integra 61.
“We anticipate a busy year ahead with lots of activity on site, and are looking forward to seeing the works progress.”
The project follows Tesla UK’s launch of 19 Superchargers at Integra 61 and a recent deal with KFC, adding to the site’s growing retail and food offering, which already includes Greggs and Costa Coffee drive-thru units.
Bosses say Integra 61, home to a two million sq ft Amazon warehouse and the 640,000 sq ft Connect industrial scheme, has the potential to create 3000 jobs and contribute £2 billion to the regional economy over the next decade, with further plans to deliver 260 homes, a hotel, nursery, pub and vehicle dealerships.
