Corporate team celebrates record-breaking year
A Sheffield-based corporate legal team is celebrating a record-breaking year of dealmaking success across the region’s business, manufacturing and property sectors.
Wake Smith Solicitors’ corporate team completed more than £60 million worth of transactions in the year to April 2025, marking a £15 million increase on the previous 12 months.
Led by director Rebecca Robinson, the team completed 18 major transactions, including the sale of Moody Direct Group Holdings to AxFlow UK Limited, a subsidiary of Swedish listed company Axel Johnson AB, as well as the acquisition of Dinnington-based rail infrastructure firm Direct Track Solutions Ltd (DTS) by Schwihag UK Limited.
The team, which has been shortlisted as ‘Corporate Law Firm of the Year’ for the seventh consecutive year, also advised on Armeg Ltd’s move to employee ownership, as well as ventures including Sheffield’s first indoor padel facility, strengthening its reputation across the region’s professional services landscape.
Rebecca said: “We have achieved some exceptional outcomes for our clients on both the buy and sell-side, through some complex legal work, confirming our position as one of the main players in Sheffield and South Yorkshire in terms of market share and transactional exposure.
“The team’s technical legal knowledge and commercial awareness has retained, and attracted, a loyal and solid customer base impressed by professional, honest and commercial advice, backed up by negotiation and problem solving skills.
“We have strong ties to the regional manufacturing sector attracted by our track record and key specialisms and the reputation of the firm, and compete with national law firms dealing in the area.”
