Gateley Legal bolsters residential development team
Gateley Legal has strengthened its London residential development team with the appointment of legal director Jo Cope.
Jo joins the firm following roles with Birketts, Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner and Mayer Brown, bringing over 20 years of development experience.
Her expertise spans mixed-use developments, town centre regeneration, framework agreements, conditional acquisitions, building leases and private rented sector (PRS) and registered provider disposals.
At Gateley Legal, Jo will collaborate closely with partners Ryan Ferguson and Shaz Sharif, alongside solicitor Stephen Redmond, who has relocated from Birmingham.
She said: “I’m really excited to be coming back to the city and joining Gateley Legal’s residential development team which has a sterling reputation within the industry.
“I’m looking forward to working alongside Ryan, Shaz and the wider teams on some big-ticket schemes to generate much-needed housing.”
The appointments expand the 12-strong team and will enhance its ability to support housebuilders, developers and land promoters with residential developments, large-scale regeneration, and PRS/Build-to-Rent schemes across London and the South.
Gateley Legal represents 18 of the top 20 UK housebuilders and handles around £2.5 billion in residential plot sales annually, making it one of the few UK firms with a dedicated housebuilder team for residential development services.
Andy Wilson, partner and national head of the residential development team at Gateley Legal, added: “Jo is a brilliant addition to our London-based team.
“She brings a wealth of development expertise which will really strengthen the breadth and depth of its offering as it continues to expand and increase its reach across the South.”
