Law firm expands with 'exciting' takeover
A law firm has expanded with a takeover.
Tilly Bailey & Irvine has bought Sunderland-based Scanlans Solicitors.
Bosses say the deal marks an “exciting new chapter” for the 183-year-old business and will build on existing offices in Hartlepool, Stockton, Wynyard Park and Barnard Castle, in County Durham.
Under the terms of the agreement, around 15 Scanlans’ staff have moved to Tilly Bailey and Irvine, with office head Heather Bolton becoming a partner and Lynda Scanlan remaining on-site as office manager.
They add the move will augment Scanlans’ specialist criminal law services with support across areas including personal injury, corporate, commercial and family law.
Neil Taylor, Tilly Bailey & Irvine partner, said: “We have been serving communities since 1842 and our values very much align with Scanlans.
“We will be building on Scanlans’ legacy while bringing our expertise and resources to offer new legal services to clients in Sunderland.”
Heather added: “This is a wonderful new chapter for our team.
“However, our clients can also be assured they will continue to be represented by the same staff who have always provided them with exceptional service.
“It will also mean important new services for those clients, who will further benefit from the collective expertise available brought by this deal.”
