Karbon Homes names new governance lead
Newcastle-headquartered Karbon Homes has appointed Russell Hall as its new director of governance.
Russell takes on the role of company secretary for the Karbon Group, with responsibility for governance, assurance and risk frameworks, as well as oversight of regulatory compliance and legal advice.
A qualified solicitor with more than 25 years’ experience, Russell has spent most of his career in the social housing sector.
He previously served as company secretary for Home Group and head of governance at the Riverside Group, as well as advising housing clients in private practice.
He has also held a number of board and trustee roles in the sector, including with a regional housing provider, an ALMO and a North East youth housing charity.
Russell said: “The provision of good quality, affordable housing and services within the sector is really important to me and I am hugely looking forward to working with colleagues at Karbon to help deliver those homes, communities and services to customers.
“Whilst it is a challenging time for many in the sector, Karbon has the solid foundations, strong social heart and the values needed to take up the opportunities and really deliver for customers, and I am excited to be a part of that.”
Russell replaces Richard Fryer, the Group’s long-serving executive director of governance and integration, who recently retired after 13 years.
Paul Fiddaman, chief executive of Karbon Homes, said: “We are delighted to appoint Russell as our director of governance, who will be ensuring we maintain strict compliance with housing regulation and legislation whilst continuing to deliver our core business activities and providing quality services to customers.
“Russell’s extensive experience and proven track record in overseeing effective governance makes him a valuable addition to our senior leadership team.
“This is a pivotal appointment for the organisation and critical to the success of our strategy, in which we’re committed to further evolving and strengthening our governance model.”
