NWBLT adds two new members

The North West Business Leadership Team (NWBLT) has welcomed two new members, Martin Jones MBE, chief executive of Home Instead UK and International, and Gill Newman, deputy regional director for Lloyds Bank’s North and Scotland regions.

Martin oversees Home Instead’s UK operations, managing over 500 franchised offices that support thousands of elderly people to live independently at home.

Under his leadership, the business has grown into the UK’s leading homecare provider, with an annual turnover of £300 million.

He also holds several charitable and sector leadership roles and was awarded an MBE for services to older people in 2023.

Martin said: “Providing job opportunities that are meaningful and which provide opportunities for additional training and upskilling so that we have an empowered care workforce is my passion.

“I am also an advocate for the needs of older people.

“My roles have enabled me to build strong links with the Department of Health and Social Care, Skills for Care and the International Longevity Centre.

“They allow me to champion the cause of home care and the role it plays in the health and social care ecosystem, and indeed to the economy of the region, it is in that spirit of collaboration that I join the NWBLT.”

Gill Newman leads a team at Lloyds Bank that supports businesses with turnovers between £25 million and £100 million across the North and Scotland.

Her team specialises in areas including working capital, risk management, corporate pensions and private wealth management.

Gill added: “My banking career began in the North West and has since spanned three decades and senior leadership positions in domestic and international banking in four continents.

“However, Lancashire is mine and my family’s home.

“I love the region and its people and it is my privilege to support businesses here.

“I am looking forward to bringing my expertise and skills to the NWBLT.”

Together, Martin and Gill bring valuable expertise to the NWBLT as it continues to support business growth across the region.

Simone Peppi, NWBLT chair, added: “We are delighted to welcome both Martin and Gill to our organisation of likeminded business leaders.

“Their expertise will bolster our team significantly as we seek to continue supporting the region’s economic growth.

“We are excited for their positive impact on our mission, as we continue driving innovation, collaboration and prosperity across the region.”
