Floorings firm expands with warehouse move
A national carpets and laminates firm is expanding its footprint with a warehouse move.
Flooring Superstore is switching to a 63,000sq ft base near Durham City.
Bosses say the site will “streamline operations and support planned expansion”.
Its new hub, based on the Connect estate at Integra 61, which skirts the A1(M) at Bowburn, replaces smaller units at South Church Enterprise Park, near Shildon, County Durham.
The move was supported by commercial property consultancy Naylors Gavin Black, and comes after Flooring Superstore earlier this year opened a new showroom in its North East heartland.
Nick Bisicker, Flooring Superstore operations director, said: “As soon as we saw this warehouse, we knew it was the one for us.
“The motorway is so close, and our existing warehouses are not too far away either.
“To be able to expand sustainably and offer our warehouse staff better working environments is a win-win.”
Keith Stewart, partner and head of agency at Newcastle-based Naylors Gavin Black, added: “Flooring Superstore is a great addition to the development.
“For too long, the region has lacked well-located, high-quality industrial and warehouse space.
“But the Connect scheme is successfully meeting that demand.”
Flooring Superstore’s new unit at Integra 61 – which includes an Amazon distribution hub – forms part of Sunrise Real Estate’s pan-European portfolio.
Jenny Wang, of Sunrise Real Estate, added: “Flooring Superstore’s long-term lease demonstrates the market’s appetite for modern space and the development’s adaptability.”
