MasterChef winner teams up with Faru
A fine dining restaurant in Durham is teaming up with a MasterChef winner for a one-off tasting event.
Restaurant Faru, founded in 2023 by husband-and-wife team Jake and Laura Siddle, will welcome Dan Merriman – MasterChef: The Professionals 2024 champion – for a three-night collaboration this week.
The special event, taking place this Thursday to Saturday (12-14 June), will feature a ten-course tasting menu created by Dan and head chef Jake, marking Dan’s first collaborative tasting experience in the North East since winning the show.
Jake said: “Dan and I both love food that’s clear, purposeful, and full of flavour.
“Dan’s cooking has real intention behind it, which fits naturally with the kind of menu we create here at Faru.”
Dan added: “I am really excited about this collaboration!
“The food and ethos that Jake and Laura provide for their guests is truly special; to be part of their journey, no matter how small, is a true privilege.”
Guests can expect a series of seasonal dishes that highlight the chefs’ shared ingredient-led approach, including duck liver parfait with cherry and duck ham, as well as hand-dived scallops glazed in XO sauce.
The exclusive menu will be served across five services with limited seats available.
Wine pairings curated by Laura are also on offer.
