Filtronic secures 'largest to date' £24 million SpaceX deal
A technology firm has secured a £24 million contract to boost Elon Musk’s interstellar venture.
Filtronic is set to supply power amplifiers to SpaceX.
Bosses say the “milestone” deal represents the company’s “largest contract to date” and will be delivered in its 2026 financial year.
They add it leaves the County Durham-based firm “confident” of beating current revenue expectations.
The agreement builds on a partnership with SpaceX extended just days ago with a £16.8 million deal to support the rocket and spacecraft operator’s Starlink constellation, which uses low Earth orbit satellites to deliver high-speed internet connections.
Nat Edington, chief executive, said: “We are delighted to have secured our largest order to date with SpaceX, reinforcing our growing reputation for delivering high-performance radio frequency solutions to the high-growth space market.
“This builds on the momentum of recent contract awards and highlights the progress we are making as we expand in key markets.”
The deal follows a separate agreement with Airbus Defence and Space to supply filter and diplexer assemblies to support production of satellites for Eutelsat OneWeb, which operates a low Earth orbit satellite constellation focused on enhancing broadband links worldwide.
