Merit builds on NHS framework success
A modular construction specialist is continuing to grow its presence in the healthcare sector.
Northumberland-based Merit has secured a second consecutive term on the NHS Shared Business Services Modular Building Framework, supporting the public sector in delivering urgent infrastructure projects.
The four-year agreement enables faster procurement of modular healthcare buildings to tackle rising patient demand.
Merit has been named on five framework lots and is already delivering high-profile projects across the UK, including the new hybrid theatre and MRI facility, at York Hospital, and a Same Day Emergency Care unit, at Bedford Hospital, with more developments in the pipeline.
Tony Wells, chief executive of Merit, which constructs the modular units at its Cramlington factory, said: “We are honoured to continue our partnership with NHS Shared Business Services.
“Our commitment to excellence in innovative healthcare solutions will empower the NHS to meet its pressing requirements for additional clinical space and improved patient care.”
Kat Jackson, principal category manager at NHS Shared Business Services, added: “With over £1.1 billion spent through our Modular Buildings Framework Agreements since 2017, NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS) provides a trusted, compliant route to market for the NHS and the wider public sector.
“Through the framework agreement, approved organisations can purchase, hire or lease offsite buildings from off the shelf to full turnkey solutions.”
