Sayturk raises the bar in Newcastle
A Newcastle-based leisure group has added another popular city venue to its growing portfolio.
Sayturk Group has bought Bar Loco, a well-known bar and restaurant which sits a stone’s throw from St James’ Park, in Newcastle, with legal support from Sweeney Miller Law.
Bar Loco enjoys high footfall, particularly on match days, and is a popular haunt for Newcastle students.
The move follows a series of strategic investments by Sayturk across the region’s hospitality sector.
The operator is currently developing Metropolitan House, on Collingwood Street, a 21-bedroom boutique hotel and rooftop bar, as well as expanding its floral-themed Flower Café brand, with new sites opening in Sunderland’s Keel Square and Jesmond later this year.
Zafer Saygilier, chief executive of Sayturk Group, said: “Sweeney Miller Law’s commercial team, led by the esteemed Surbhi Vedhara, was entrusted with managing the legal intricacies of the acquisition and her expertise and dedication were instrumental in the successful completion of Bar Loco.
“This is the ninth deal completed in the last 36 months with the assistance of Surbhi and her expert team.”
Surbhi Vedhara, managing partner at Sweeney Miller Law, which has offices in Newcastle and Sunderland, added: “This is yet another wonderful acquisition for Zafar and the Sayturk Group in the North East and it was fantastic to work with them again as they continue to grow.
“We are excited to work with them on whatever comes next.
“At a time when the hospitality sector is facing so many challenges, it is refreshing to see good operators like Zafer continuing to grow and outperform the market.”
