London development rides into future
A South West London residential project is enhancing city living with smart e-bike access.
The HiLight by Ghelamco, a £140 million regeneration scheme delivering 113 one-to-three-bedroom apartments on Battersea’s waterfront, is the first UK residential development to partner with Dutch e-bike pioneer VanMoof.
Bosses say the collaboration offers residents app-connected electric bikes, promoting sustainable and wellness-focused urban lifestyles.
They add that residents will have complimentary access to VanMoof’s newest UK model and discounted purchase rates, with the bikes featuring including anti-theft technology, automatic gear shifting and a powerful motor.
Marie-Julie Gheysens, managing director UK at Ghelamco, said: “We’re very proud to be the first developer to bring VanMoof’s forward-thinking cycling culture to a UK residential setting.
“At The HiLight, we’re creating more than homes - we’re creating a new kind of city lifestyle.
“This is more than just a convenience for residents – it’s a step toward smart, conscious urban living.
“VanMoof has redefined what it means to move through a city, and The HiLight shares that same ambition: to elevate everyday experiences through smart design, sustainability and wellbeing.
“By offering this level of innovation in mobility, The HiLight becomes not only a place to live, but a place to thrive.”
The e-bikes will be available following The HiLight’s completion in 2026, fully integrated with an app that tracks wellness metrics and carbon savings.
Eliott Wertheimer, co-chief executive of VanMoof, which has delivered similar partnerships in the Netherlands, added: “VanMoof is known for rethinking urban mobility and The HiLight is all about setting new standards in healthy, forward-thinking living.
“Partnering with Ghelamco is an exciting milestone as we expand our vision for urban mobility into the UK.
“The HiLight shares our values, giving people smarter, more enjoyable ways to move through the city.”
