Accenture backs North East tech awards

A global professional services firm is sponsoring this year’s North East tech awards.

Accenture has been announced as the headline sponsor of the twelfth annual Dynamites, which celebrates businesses and individuals across the region’s tech sector.

The awards, hosted by Dynamo North East C.I.C., aim to recognise rising stars, high achievers and organisations driving digital transformation in the region.

Alec Berry, managing director at Accenture Newcastle, which employs 1400 people in the North East, said they hoped the awards would help “shine a light on the region’s tech ecosystem”.

He said: “The North East’s tech sector has long punched above its weight when it comes to innovating and developing the digital solutions of tomorrow, and we’ve witnessed this first-hand.

“Over the years, we’ve worked with businesses across the region to help embrace digital transformation and bring new products and services to market, but for all of our successes as a region, we are so humble that we rarely shout about the incredible impact we have on the world.”

David Darlington, associate director at Accenture Newcastle, added: “This is why events such as the Dynamites are so important.

“They’re a great way of bringing people together from across the sector to shine a light on the region’s growing tech community and champion its many successes.

“It’s always a fantastic evening and we can’t wait to join everyone in November to celebrate.”

The ceremony, taking place on Thursday, November 20 at Newcastle Civic Hall, will feature 14 award categories, with finalists set to be announced on October 9.

This year’s event will be hosted by Mock the Week star Gary Delaney and is expected to welcome more than 450 industry leaders, investors and innovators.

Dr David Dunn, chief executive of Dynamo North East, said: “We are delighted that Accenture has signed up as the headline sponsor of this year’s Dynamites Awards.

“The Dynamites are all about raising awareness of the incredible people and organisations who are driving the region’s tech sector forward and having an organisation of Accenture’s calibre helping to amplify those stories is fantastic.

“It should be yet another sell-out event, so we’d encourage anyone who hasn’t bought tickets to get involved as soon as possible to avoid missing out.”
