Go-ahead for 1000-job Teeslink industrial hub

Plans have been approved for a 1000-job industrial hub.

Rula Developments has secured backing to deliver the 775,000sq ft Teeslink site.

Bosses say the “flagship” venture – based close to Eaglescliffe, near Stockton, will “unlock a vital employment site”.

They add the 54-acre hub could support as many as 1000 jobs across buildings ranging from 3,000sq ft to 500,000sq ft.

Work is now set to start on an access road and supporting services, with the park’s first units earmarked for completion in the third quarter of next year.

The land, based a mile from the A66, was bought by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council in 2021 with money from Tees Valley Combined Authority’s Indigenous Growth Fund.

Anthony Clitheroe, development director at Bawtry-based Rula Developments, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.

“This development will unlock key land to provide much-needed accommodation for local businesses.”

Councillor Lisa Evans, leader of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, said Teeslink will build on the industrial successes and employment provided by existing Eaglescliffe firms including car parts maker Nifco and Tetley tea maker Tata Consumer Products.

She said: “Teeslink is yet another demonstration of Stockton-on-Tees being the economic powerhouse of the Tees Valley.” 

Tees Valley mayor Ben Houchen added: "It is essential our region has the very best business accommodation to attract new investment and support the growth of our outstanding local companies.” 

Teeslink adds to Rula Developments’ wider portfolio, which includes the 500-job Europa Sheffield scheme bosses say will deliver 271,000sq ft of industrial space.
