Combined Authority backs global trade push
The York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority has approved a £1 million budget to expand the region’s presence on national and global stages over the next three years.
Officials say the funding will support proactive initiatives, including attendance at major investment events and hosting investor forums, aimed at attracting inward investment and strengthening trade ties.
David Skaith, mayor of York and North Yorkshire, said: “York and North Yorkshire is already firmly on the world map and this new funding will allow us to showcase the businesses and innovation that call York and North Yorkshire home.
“We know our region is a fantastic place to live, learn, work and invest.
“We have one of the most productive economies in the North of England and a highly skilled workforce, forming the foundation of our pitch to investors.
“It's time to tell that story far and wide, attracting the investment needed to create more high-quality jobs, growth and opportunities for people from Skipton to Scarborough and everywhere in between.”
The programme builds on the success of the Invest in York and North Yorkshire team, which has helped bring Polish biotech companies to the region and supported major investments from firms such as French-owned manufacturer Schneider.
Collaboration will remain central, with the Combined Authority working alongside the City of York Council, North Yorkshire Council, local universities and industry partners to drive regional economic growth and ensure the area can compete effectively with other UK regions.
