Glasgow star on board for Lumo competition
A rail operator is marking a national celebration of customer service with a week-long campaign packed with prizes and community partnerships.
Newcastle-headquartered Lumo has teamed up with Glasgow-born writer and broadcaster Bev Lyons to launch an exclusive social media competition during National Customer Service Week (6-10 October), which shines a spotlight on the vital role of customer service and recognises businesses going the extra mile for their customers.
The competition promotes some of Lumo’s key partner attractions across the regions it serves.
Prizes include a luxury weekend stay for two at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead, a family day out at Beamish Museum and a £100 Eldon Square voucher, as well as a unique Lumo Train Simulator Experience in Newcastle.
Bev said: “It’s been fabulous to be part of this fun project with Lumo, who are incredibly focused on positive customer experiences.
“I’m very excited that Lumo will be serving Glasgow very soon and can’t wait to see all of the opportunities that will bring for local people!”
To add to the celebrations, the operator is also surprising customers onboard with spot prizes throughout National Customer Service Week.
Anyone travelling with Lumo during the week will automatically be in with a chance to win.
Jen Clare, service delivery director at Lumo, added: “We’re thrilled to launch this unique competition for National Customer Service Week.
“It ties perfectly into our range of local partnerships and offers something back to our loyal customers.
“With even more travel opportunities coming soon with Lumo, it’s important that we recognise the customers who support our business, as they will help us maintain those high standards as we grow and diversify.”
Running alongside the campaign is the announcement of Lumo’s long-awaited Glasgow fares.
From December, the operator will extend its current route to Glasgow Queen Street, with selected 2026 advance tickets from just £33.90 when booked direct.
Journeys between Glasgow and Newcastle will start at £10.90.
