Housebuilder Vistry in 215-home land agreement
A housebuilder has agreed a 215-property land deal.
Vistry has exchanged contracts on a 19-acre site at Carlton, near Barnsley.
Bosses say the agreement “marks another positive step in supporting Barnsley’s housing growth ambitions”.
They add the Shaw Lane scheme – subject to reserved matters planning approval – could see as many as half of the estate’s proposed properties built as affordable housing.
A further £1 million has also been earmarked to support local education improvements, with plans in place to upgrade roads, footpaths and boost biodiversity measures.
Vistry, which operates through brands including Bovis Homes and Linden Homes, secured its land deal – for an undisclosed sum – through Newton-le-Willows-based Network Space.
Stephen Barnes, Network Space managing director (development), said: “The scheme will provide an attractive mix of new homes alongside meaningful investment in local infrastructure and community facilities.
“It’s a great outcome for both residents and the wider area.
“Shaw Lane is ideally placed for modern family living.
“Seeing this land coming forward for development is an important step in continuing Carlton’s growth and meeting local housing needs.”
