Halifax timber firms merge and save jobs
A Yorkshire-based timber engineering business has secured its future and safeguarded local employment through a strategic acquisition.
Heywood Timber Engineering, headquartered in Halifax, has acquired Heywood Rooftruss, a move that preserves 44 jobs and strengthens the combined business’s position in the North of England’s construction sector.
Founded in 2005, Heywood Timber Engineering designs, manufactures and installs timber-framed buildings, flooring and roofing products, producing up to 1000 timber frame buildings annually and 80,000 units across its engineered wood product range.
The newly merged company is led by managing director Andrew Fletcher, who has been with Heywood Timber Engineering for 11 years, alongside operations director Dominic Farley, who joined in 2023.
Andrew said: “We are delighted to welcome Heywood Rooftruss to the Heywood Timber Engineering stable.
“The team’s expertise is already adding value to our clients, and we are looking forward to growing the business and our reach.”
Clough & Willis advised on corporate structure, shareholdings, property elements and the overall asset sale, while the transaction was coordinated by FRP Advisory, who were appointed administrators of Heywood Rooftruss in July.
Andy Herricks, partner at Clough and Willis, who heads up the corporate and commercial team at the firm, said: “Andrew and the team at Heywood Timber Engineering are experts in their field and have built a business with an enviable reputation in the construction sector.
“Their acquisition of Heywood Rooftruss was a natural fit, and I wish them all the best for the future.”
