Nelsons appoints new legal director
East Midlands law firm Nelsons has appointed Cathy Clark as legal director within its commerce and technology team.
The firm provides specialist legal support to businesses, advising on commercial contracts, intellectual property, agency, distribution, franchising and technology agreements.
Cathy brings more than 25 years’ experience as a commercial solicitor, having qualified at Freeths in 2010 and served in in-house roles including seven years with Equifax.
Her expertise spans legal contracting, revenue recognition and risk management, offering valuable insight into how businesses operate internally.
Cathy said: “Having been born and raised in Nottingham, and starting my career here, I have always known about Nelsons and its excellent reputation.
“Following the last decade working for in-house teams, I felt now was the right time to come back to private practice and Nelsons was a clear stand out for me.
“Not only from a professional view, but also from a cultural perspective, it was clear this was a firm I wanted to be part of.
“Much of my experience has come from a software and data background, therefore one of the areas that I will be focusing on is data protection and GDPR.
“I am looking forward to working with an already brilliant team to develop these services, in addition to supporting both new and existing clients when they need advice on these issues.”
Cathy’s appointment strengthens Nelsons’ specialist team, supporting the firm’s continued growth and its mission to provide pragmatic legal advice to businesses across the East Midlands.
Emma Toes, partner and solicitor in Nelsons’ commerce and technology team, added: “We’re delighted to welcome Cathy to the team.
“Her legal expertise and commitment to delivering exceptional client service align perfectly with Nelsons’ values.
“Cathy brings a wealth of experience that will strengthen our offering and support our continued growth.
“We’re excited about the contribution she will make to both our clients and our wider team.”
