Filtronic has secured an agreement to supply parts for a low Earth orbit satellite constellation programme

Filtronic hails 'milestone' £5 million-plus space deal

A radio frequency technology firm supporting headline space projects has boosted its order book with a £5 million-plus contract.

Filtronic is set to supply parts to a European aerospace manufacturer.

Bosses say the apparatus will be used in the “leading” operator’s low Earth orbit satellite constellation programme.

They add parts will be made at Filtronic’s NETPark base, in Sedgefield, County Durham, and be delivered over the next three years.

Nat Edington, Filtronic chief executive, said: “This contract highlights the increasing diversification across customers within the space markets, and reflects the trust placed in our capability to deliver at scale for the most demanding space applications.

“As demand for satellite connectivity continues to grow, this is another milestone in our mission to support the growing satellite market.”

The contract comes just days after Filtronic said it is ready to “capitalise on long-term growth opportunities” following a raft of bumper deals.

The firm previously secured eye-catching agreements with Elon Musk’s SpaceX endeavour – which include a record £47.3 million partnership – and further contracts with Leonardo and Airbus Defence and Space.
