Lawfront appoints new chief information officer
Lawfront has appointed Tony McKenna as chief information officer, strengthening its operational leadership as the group continues to expand.
Tony joins from top 100 firm Howard Kennedy, where he spent five years as director of IT and change and previously held senior technology roles at Freshfields and A&O Shearman.
He also recently completed a two-year term as president of the International Legal Technology Association, representing more than 25,000 legal technologists worldwide.
In his new role, Tony will work closely with Lawfront’s senior leadership team – including chief operating officer Axel Koelsch and head of innovation and AI James Grice – to drive continuous improvements across the group’s technology platforms.
He will also focus on ensuring Lawfront’s regional leader firms maximise the value of tools including Jylo, Veil AI and AORA.
Tony said: “Lawfront is fast establishing a reputation for their excellent application of legal technology and I’m excited to be working with the team to support with ongoing growth in this area.
“Legal technology is increasingly central to the operation of any law firm, and I have already been impressed by the excellent work that my colleagues at Lawfront and our partner firms are doing to unlock the benefits offered by innovative technologies.”
Tony’s appointment follows a period of sustained growth for Lawfront, alongside recent senior hires and the acquisitions of Brachers and Trethowans.
Axel Koelsch, chief operating officer at Lawfront, added: “We are very pleased to be bringing Tony on board.
“His experience across high-performing national and international law firms makes him a standout addition to the Lawfront team.
“We look forward to working with him to help ensure that our firms remain at the cutting edge when it comes to innovation.”
