Marine engineer secures £3 million Middle East work
A marine engineer has secured a £3 million Middle East deal.
Tekmar Group is set to supply power cable protection to an offshore energy project.
The apparatus – for a “leading global oilfield services provider” – will be delivered next year.
Bosses say the order marks the “largest polyurethane cable protection contract to date” with the customer, adding it reflects the buyer’s “growing trust and confidence” in the County Durham-headquartered firm.
The deal comes after the company, which operates from Aycliffe Business Park, secured a £2 million Middle East deal to design and make reinforced concrete support structures for a gas pipeline.
Richard Turner, chief executive, said: “This award highlights our continued growth in the Middle East and the confidence customers place in our proven technology and engineering expertise.
“We are seeing strong momentum in regional demand for cable protection.
“Through a combination of innovation, proven performance and customer focus, we continue to be recognised as the partner of choice for protecting the world’s most critical offshore assets.”
The firm also includes Pipeshield, which supplies equipment to protect subsea energy lines, and the Ryder-branded engineering consultancy, which has offices in Newcastle, London and Glasgow.
