Contractor wins police station upgrade work
A building contractor has strengthened its order book with a police deal.
Henry Brothers Construction is refurbishing Stechford Police Station.
Bosses say the £8 million scheme will add new victim care facilities and expand a public contact office at the 1970s Birmingham building.
They add the 16-month project will “deliver better conditions for victims and witnesses and provide officers with a modern workplace”, with the station remaining fully operational as upgrades are carried out.
Ian Taylor, managing director at Nottingham-based Henry Brothers Construction, said: “Better facilities will help West Midlands Police provide vital services for the local community.
“We are proud to be playing a part in making that happen.”
Craig Guildford, chief constable, added: “These essential works represent a major investment in policing in east Birmingham.
“Stechford has one of the busiest public contact offices in the West Midlands.
“That’s why the work will see that part of the building expanded to increase the waiting area and counter space.”
The project is the second secured by Henry Brothers Construction alongside West Midlands Police, with the firm delivering a £9 million refurbishment of Wolverhampton Central Police Station.
Henry Brothers Construction is part of the Henry Brothers Group, which is headquartered in Northern Ireland.
