Marine engineer hails record order after £7 million-plus deal
A marine engineer is cheering a best-ever order book after landing a £7 million-plus deal.
Tekmar Group is set to supply cable protection equipment to a UK offshore wind farm.
Bosses say the “significant” agreement means the firm has chalked up a record £29 million order book.
They add it “reinforces the company’s position as the clear market leader in subsea asset protection”, revealing its latest agreement – with an existing customer – will be supplied in early 2027.
The deal adds to a bumper period for the County Durham-headquartered firm, which previously secured work including Middle East cable protection and gas pipeline projects, and a £5 million UK offshore wind farm order.
Richard Turner, chief executive at the Newton Aycliffe-based business, said: “This significant contract helps underline the momentum we have across our business.
“We exited the 2025 financial year with an improving financial performance, and have started the new financial year with several significant contract wins resulting in a current order backlog of £29 million.
“This backlog, and the commercial run rate, places the company on a much stronger footing than it was 12 months ago.
“We are very encouraged by the progress we are making.”
The firm also includes Pipeshield, which supplies equipment to protect subsea energy lines, and the Ryder-branded engineering consultancy, which has offices in Newcastle, London and Glasgow.
