AI legal start-up secures £5 million funding boost
A legal sector tech firm has hailed its momentum after securing £5 million investment to bolster launch plans.
AttiFin AI has been backed by seed funding.
It says the cash will help create 25 jobs and shift the business from London to Newcastle ahead of an early 2026 market entry.
Founder and chief executive Shilpa Kaluti said the firm – which promises to build “Britain’s first enterprise-grade artificial intelligence platform trained specifically on UK and devolved law” will recruit staff across areas including digital engineering and business development.
They added the company’s blueprint will be boosted by its switch to Newcastle, which offers a “deepening pool of artificial intelligence expertise, respected universities and a substantial cluster of legal service providers operating nationally and internationally”.
AttiFin is backed by the founders of tech operator Scrumconnect and draws on the latter’s experience in the criminal justice system, which includes work with HM Courts & Tribunals Service and the Ministry of Justice.
Shilpa said: “This investment gives us the momentum we need as we move towards launch.
“Our priority is to build a platform that meets the expectations of legal professionals who work with complex UK-specific legislation every day.
“Basing AttiFin in Newcastle reflects our belief in the capability across the North East, and shows that innovative technology companies do not need to be centred solely in London and the South East.”
