Housing operator boosted by £110 million support
A housing association has unveiled plans to build hundreds of homes following a £110 million funding boost.
First Choice Homes Oldham says it will deliver at least 600 affordable properties after Santander UK backing.
Bosses say the blueprint includes a planned 147-home venture alongside Vistry Group in Oldham town centre and energy efficiency upgrades to 11,500 existing homes.
Andy Ewart, First Choice Homes Oldham’s executive director of corporate services, said the funding marks an “exciting time” for the organisation.
He said: “This reflects great confidence in our robust plans for accelerating the supply of much-needed new homes, improving existing ones and continuing to make a difference in our communities.
“The funding will support delivery of our homes strategy 2025-2028 that includes delivering more properties for social rent to directly support Government ambitions for social and affordable housebuilding.
“We also need to ensure our existing housing stock is fit for the future and meets the needs and aspirations of customers through improved energy efficiency to cut carbon emissions and help reduce energy bills.”
Robert Simmons, Santander Corporate and Commercial Banking relationship director, added: “We are pleased to provide First Choice Homes Oldham with a £110 million refinancing package.
“Having supported the organisation since its formation in 2011, our partnership has gone from strength to strength, and we look forward to helping the team continue making a real impact on the local community.”
