Housing partnership set to deliver Doncaster scheme
A South Yorkshire housing development is moving forward as plans progress to deliver new affordable homes for local residents.
Housebuilder Strata has exchanged contracts with Great Places Housing Group to deliver 53 new affordable homes at Lutterworth Drive in Doncaster.
Bosses say the scheme will bring forward social rent properties on land allocated for housing in the local plan, transforming a previously unused site into a new residential community.
The development will include a mix of one, two and three-bedroom homes, alongside bungalows, semi-detached and terraced properties, all built to national space standards.
In line with the developer’s sustainability commitments, the homes will exceed 2021 Part L Building Regulations, with high-efficiency gas boilers, solar panels and waste water heat recovery systems improving energy performance and reducing carbon emissions.
Central green space has also been designed into the layout to support community wellbeing, with a single-access road creating a safe and neighbourly environment.
Rob Larkin, pre-construction director at Strata, said: “Completing contracts with Great Places marks an important milestone in bringing high-quality, affordable homes to Lutterworth Drive.
“Our partnership reflects our shared commitment to creating well-designed, sustainable communities that meet real local needs.
“We look forward to delivering these homes and contributing to the long-term growth and regeneration of Doncaster.”
Supported through Homes England Strategic Partnership 2 funding, the scheme has been designed to complement the surrounding area, including neighbouring residential properties and Warneford House nursing home.
Nick Gornall, director of growth at Great Places, added: “This scheme represents an excellent example of how partnership-led delivery can accelerate affordable housing across the region.
“Our partnership with Strata will deliver 53 much-needed affordable homes for social rent in Doncaster.
“The development will provide high-quality, accessible homes that support a range of needs within the community.
“We look forward to working closely with Strata as the project progresses.”
