University set to expand London footprint
A Yorkshire university is expanding its presence in the capital to meet growing demand for career-focused postgraduate education.
The University of Hull has confirmed it will open a new London campus in Stratford in June, relocating its London Study Centre from Bloomsbury after rapid growth since launching in partnership with Cambridge Education Group in 2024.
More than 1700 students have already enrolled on the centre’s master’s programmes, driven by strong demand for courses in logistics, digital marketing, artificial intelligence and business management.
Officials say the new bespoke campus at the Olympic Park will offer enhanced facilities to support further growth and will sit within the East Bank cultural quarter, close to major national institutions and key transport links, including Stratford International.
Interim vice-chancellor professor Kevin Kerrigan said: “Our London campus brings Hull values, teaching and learning to the heart of the nation’s capital.
“Students from across the world are choosing to study a University of Hull degree in London because of the quality of teaching, the supportive learning experience, and the proximity to global employers.
“The opening of our new London campus reaffirms our commitment to growth and excellence.
“At the heart of Stratford’s dynamic Olympic Park our purpose-built campus will further enhance a thriving economic, educational and cultural hub and provide a platform in the capital for showcasing what is best about Hull and the Humber region.”
Christopher Macallister, dean of the Hull London campus, added: “The success of the London campus is built on academic excellence, strong industry links and high-quality student support.
“This month over 300 Hull London graduates proudly received degrees alongside their counterparts at Hull graduation ceremonies.
“From day one, our shared ambition with Cambridge Education Group has been to create exceptional learning opportunities for international students in one of the world’s most vibrant cities.
“The success of the London campus and the expansion to a new location in Stratford marks a significant milestone in that journey and reflects the outstanding demand for Hull’s programmes in London.
“The new London campus will allow us to build on that success, with improved study and social spaces and a purpose-built IT suite, and broaden this offer further, including the development of in-demand courses in AI and data science, leadership, management and technology that respond directly to sector demand and support our drive for sustainable economic growth.”
David Johnston, chief executive of Cambridge Education Group, added: “The continued success of the London campus further strengthens our relationship with the University of Hull.
“This partnership includes pathway programmes delivered on the University of Hull’s main campus through OnCampus Hull, as well as a range of online Master’s programmes offered via our Digital division.
“Together, our complementary services enable students to receive a world-class education, supported by innovative teaching and comprehensive support services at key stages of their academic journey.
“The range of provision and the depth of our recruitment network support the University’s ambition in a sustainable manner – critical in the current environment.”
