Sweeney Miller Law expands employment team
North East law firm Sweeney Miller Law, which has offices in Sunderland and Newcastle, has appointed senior associate Paul Lott as head of employment law, marking the formal launch of a dedicated employment law service for businesses across the region and beyond.
Paul is a specialist employment solicitor with 17 years’ experience advising employers and employees across the private, public and charitable sectors.
His background combines legal expertise with practical HR insight, enabling him to support business owners, directors and HR teams with commercially focused, people-centred advice.
Paul brings extensive experience handling employment tribunal matters, including unfair dismissal, redundancy, discrimination, contractual disputes and TUPE transfers, alongside a strong track record of helping businesses take proactive steps to reduce risk.
In his new role, Paul will lead the firm’s employment offering, including its BizCare Employment Scheme, providing ongoing HR and employment law support to organisations of all sizes.
He said: “Joining Sweeney Miller Law is an exciting step for me.
“The firm has a clear commitment to supporting businesses with practical, commercially grounded advice, and I’m looking forward to growing our employment law offering.
“My focus has always been on helping organisations manage their people fairly, confidently and compliantly, and I’m delighted to bring that approach to a team that shares those values.”
Surbhi Vedhara, managing partner at Sweeney Miller Law, added: “We are delighted to welcome Paul to Sweeney Miller Law.
“His expertise in employment law, alongside his commercial and pragmatic approach, strengthens our offering to employers at a time when people management, compliance and workplace culture have never been more important.”
