EMG Solicitors strengthens family team

Award-winning North East law firm EMG Solicitors has appointed Jenny Goldstein as consultant solicitor in its family law team, alongside the arrival of Alex Buck as personal assistant.

Jenny, formerly of Samuel Phillips Law, brings extensive experience in family law and will advise clients on matters including divorce and finance, child arrangements and civil partnership dissolution.

Alex also joins from Samuel Phillips Law and continues in her role as personal assistant to Jenny, providing dedicated client and case support.

She will play a key role in ensuring continuity of service and smooth management of matters across the team.

Both are based at EMG Solicitors’ Gosforth office, working with clients across the North East, the UK and internationally.

Jenny said: “Having worked in family law for more than 30 years, I see first-hand what a stressful and difficult experience it can be, especially for people dealing with commercial separation.

“My role at EMG Solicitors is to work closely with clients going through separation or divorce to support them through the process and manage all of their financial interests.

“As well as my decades of experience in family law, I also have direct experience in the commercial world.

“That combination can be extremely beneficial in my role, particularly when clients have complex finance situations that include corporate or commercial assets, international assets, and significant pensions.

“Ultimately, it’s about having a pragmatic, firm informed approach, whilst ensuring clients feel supported and listened to.

“What really attracted me to EMG Solicitors was its fresh and modern approach to running a law firm.

“We’re all about working collaboratively so we can do the very best for our clients.

“Having worked in the legal sector for a long time, I can say EMG has a glowing reputation. I’m delighted to be part of the team and working alongside so many talented colleagues.”

Alex added: “I’m often the first point of contact for our family law clients, which provides a fantastic opportunity to build relationships and understand how we can best support them.

“Responsibilities include preparing bundles of documentation for court, and I manage the administrative duties, like schedules of assets and liabilities.

“My role also involves working with barristers' clerks, and expert witnesses, as well as managing appointments and meetings.

“I’ve worked as personal assistant to Jenny since 2022 and together, we’re a great team.”

Alex added: “As a B Corp, EMG has proven it cares for its people, the communities it works in, and the environment.

“That really impressed me.

“There’s a fantastic culture here and it’s reflected in everything the company does.”

Their appointments enhance EMG’s specialist family law offering as the firm, which operates from six offices nationwide, continues to expand its team and services.

Julia Middleton, director and head of dispute resolution at EMG Solicitors, added: “As a former owner of Samuel Phillips Law, Jenny brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her new role at EMG.

“Jenny and Alex have worked alongside each other for more than four years, developing a fantastic working relationship that will continue here at EMG Solicitors.

“Our family law clients will benefit greatly from their expertise and commitment to provide an excellent level of service.”
