BRM appoints contentious probate director
Sheffield and Chesterfield-based law firm BRM has appointed Rob Johnson as a director in its contentious probate team.
Rob brings more than 20 years’ experience handling disputes over wills, trusts and inheritance.
He joins from Bell & Buxton Solicitors and Malcolm C Foy & Co, where he began his legal career as a trainee in 2004 before progressing to director and head of dispute resolution.
Rob said: “I have previously focused on will disputes and issues in relation to the administration of estates but I have dealt with and have experience in all aspects of contentious probate and I am looking forward to bringing that depth of experience to the team at BRM.
“I chose to join BRM for a chance to work in an excellent team with Lewis Hastie and to join a progressive commercial firm that is very successful in Sheffield.
“I’m very much looking forward to making a significant impact on BRM’s cases and achieving positive results for our clients.”
Rob’s appointment strengthens BRM’s growing contentious probate practice, which has expanded in recent years.
The firm appointed Lewis Hastie as head of its Sheffield probate dispute team in 2023 and welcomed Abbie Culf as a trainee solicitor earlier this year.
The latest hire reinforces BRM’s investment in specialist private client dispute resolution services.
Lewis added: “I am delighted that Rob has chosen to join BRM.
“He brings with him a huge amount of experience and expertise and will be a major asset to our growing contentious trusts and probate team.”
Rob Cooke, executive director and head of dispute resolution at BRM, added: “Our contentious probate team continues to expand and Rob’s arrival is a significant step in that growth.
“His experience and strong track record will be invaluable as we continue expanding our capabilities and supporting clients facing some of the most challenging situations.”
