Expansion child's play as operator acquires nursery
A children’s nursery operator has expanded with a takeover.
Kids Planet Day Nurseries has bought Surrey-based Somers House Nursery.
Founded in 2020, the 80-place Reigate hub oversees babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers.
Bosses say the deal will allow former owner Cavendish Lodge Nursery and Pre-Schools to focus on two further London sites.
The sale was supported by corporate, environmental, commercial employment and tax teams from Bradford, Huddersfield and Leeds-based law firm Schofield Sweeney.
Kevin Potter, Cavendish Lodge Nursery and Pre-Schools co-owner, said: “The nursery will continue under a team who truly understands and values its character.
“We wish Kids Planet every success for the future at Somers House.”
Jack Venable, Schofield Sweeney solicitor, said: “We were delighted to support this transaction.
“Cavendish Lodge is a true family business and they were keen to ensure Somers House would be in good hands.”
Nick Brown, director and head of brokerage – childcare and education, at Christie & Co, which oversaw the deal, added: “It’s always hard for owners when they have poured so much of their time, love and effort into creating something special.
“It can be a challenge to let go, but they can now concentrate on their other nurseries.”
Kids Planet was represented by law firm Mills & Reeve, whose office portfolio includes bases in Leeds, London and Manchester.
