Developer breaks ground on 53-home scheme

A developer has begun work on a 53-property scheme.

Breck Homes has broken ground on a Bradford social housing estate.

Bosses say the venture – launched alongside affordable property provider Incommunities – will feature two-to-four-bedroom houses, maisonettes and apartments.

The Rushton Avenue endeavour will sit on land formerly owned by supermarket Morrisons, with construction earmarked for completion in summer 2027.

The scheme marks Bamber Bridge-headquartered Breck Homes’ first development in Yorkshire and the launch of a partnership with Shipley-based Incommunities, which manages more than 22,000 properties across the county.

Nigel Robson, managing director – Yorkshire at Breck Homes, which runs an office out of Leeds’ Beeston area, said: “There is an urgent need for new affordable housing in Bradford, and more widely across Yorkshire.

“We see real opportunity across the county in the coming years to meet the need for affordable housing and create communities that people of all ages and backgrounds can be genuinely proud of.”

He added the development is set to be followed by two further Bradford schemes alongside Incommunities at Flockton Road and Brompton Avenue.

Graeme Scott, Incommunities’ executive director of development and property, added: “This marks the beginning of what we hope will be a strong and successful partnership.

“With a large proportion of our homes located across the Bradford district, investing in developments like this remains a key priority for us.

“Together, the three developments would deliver 107 new homes, which reflects our shared ambition to bring forward more affordable homes across West Yorkshire.”

Breck Homes is also awaiting planning approval for a 135-home scheme in Pudsey.
