Whisper appoints general counsel
Global production company Whisper, headquartered in Kew, London, has appointed Ronu Miah as general counsel as the business continues its international expansion following its return to full private ownership earlier this year.
Ronu brings more than 20 years’ experience across the sports, media and entertainment sectors, having previously held senior roles at Sky Sports, beIN Media Group and Football Marketing Asia.
He joins Whisper after running consultancy business Castalia, where he advised high-profile clients including Relevent Football Partners, and is recognised for his expertise in sports commercialisation, governance and large-scale international negotiations.
In his new role, Ronu will lead Whisper’s legal function, overseeing commercial negotiations and advising the board as the company continues to grow globally.
He said: “I am delighted to be joining Whisper at this exciting point in its journey.
“Whisper has built an exceptional reputation for creative excellence and innovation in sports storytelling.
“I am looking forward to working with Sunil and the senior leadership team as the business continues to scale internationally and unlock new commercial opportunities.”
Ronu’s appointment follows Whisper’s recent leadership expansion after Sony Pictures Television exited the business, with recent senior hires also including Fiona Morgan as chief brand officer and Jenny Collins as chief people and operating officer.
Sunil Patel, founder and chief executive of Whisper, added: “Ronu is a phenomenal addition to our team.
“He is a world-class dealmaker who understands the intricacies of the global sports and media market as well as anyone in the business.
“As we enter this next phase of accelerated growth, his experience in navigating large negotiations and his relentless focus on commercial excellence make him the perfect fit for Whisper’s culture.
“Having Ronu lead our legal team ensures we have the strategic depth to continue disrupting the industry at scale.”
