Law firm moves to more 'visible' Newcastle base
A North East law firm is expanding its regional presence after a period of sustained growth in staff numbers and client demand.
DJMS Solicitors has relocated its Newcastle office to larger premises on The Side, overlooking the Quayside and within walking distance of Newcastle Crown Court and Magistrates’ Court.
The specialist criminal, motoring offence and regulatory defence practice said the move follows a 15 per cent increase in headcount over the last 18 months, alongside rising instructions from clients across the North East and throughout England and Wales.
Spread across three floors, the 1700sq ft office features expanded conference facilities designed to support clients, legal representatives and the wider DJMS team handling cases at nearby courts.
Designed to accommodate further expansion, the relocation supports the continued growth of the firm's Newcastle office and Crown Court departments.
Recruitment is ongoing, with vacancies currently available for experienced solicitor advocates.
Founded with a defence-only focus, DJMS Solicitors advises individuals, families, professionals and businesses on matters including criminal defence, motoring offences, fraud, regulatory investigations and appeals.
The Newcastle office is part of a wider regional network that includes Sunderland, South Shields, North Shields, Gateshead and Consett. The firm has also recently opened a new office opposite North Tyneside Magistrates’ Court.
The announcement comes as co-founder and managing director Jason Smith has been appointed as a Magistrates’ Court deputy district judge.
Jason said: “Newcastle is an important legal centre and a key location for our clients, our team and the continued development of the firm.
“This move gives DJMS a stronger and more visible presence in the city, while providing accessible, high-quality facilities for clients and their families when they need our help and representation most.
“Whilst proud to be a regional practice with deep roots in the North East, DJMS is continuing to develop a genuinely national capability and reach.
“Our new Newcastle office reflects the strength of the firm, the quality of our people and our long-term commitment to criminal, motoring and regulatory defence work.”
