WLR Group expands with Blackwell Bate takeover
A professional services firm has expanded with a takeover.
WLR Group has bought accountancy practice Blackwell Bate.
The company says the deal for the Cornwall-based operator “marks a significant milestone in its continued growth and investment across the South West”.
Under the terms of the agreement, Blackwell Bate will continue operating from its Saltash office, with Amy Wise promoted to the role of director – WLR South West.
The deal follows Castle Donington-based WLR Group’s move for Tamar Accountancy last year, and adds to its existing accountancy, legal, finance, insurance and advisory divisions.
Martin Collins, chief executive, said: “Blackwell Bate has built an excellent reputation throughout Cornwall and the South West by doing what every great professional services firm should do – putting clients first, delivering high-quality advice and building lasting relationships.
“This acquisition is about investing in that success, supporting the team and creating additional opportunities for clients and colleagues.”
Alex Blackwell and Graham Roberts, partners at Blackwell Bate, added: “We are excited about the future and look forward to working closely with the wider WLR team as we begin the next chapter of the business.”
