Burnetts strengthens Newcastle corporate team

Burnetts has strengthened its Newcastle office with the appointment of corporate partner Chris Morgan as the firm continues to grow its presence in the North East.

Chris joins the firm’s corporate M&A team, bringing extensive experience advising businesses on acquisitions and disposals, company reorganisations, shareholder agreements and partnership matters.

He has acted on multi-million-pound transactions for a wide range of clients, from owner-managed businesses to larger organisations, across sectors including healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing, professional services, leisure and tourism.

Alongside his legal career, Chris has lectured in commercial law at Northumbria University and has built a strong reputation as a trusted adviser to businesses across the region.

He said: “I am delighted to be joining Burnetts during such an exciting time for the firm.

“The corporate team has a strong reputation across the region for high-quality work advising on M&A transactions, which was a key factor in my decision to join.

“From the outset, I was impressed by the culture of the team which is collaborative, ambitious and highly client focused.

“I am looking forward to working with my new colleagues to continue to develop our corporate offering in Newcastle.”

Chris is joined at Burnetts by paralegal Pamela Thompson, with whom he has worked for several years.

Michael Walby, partner and head of corporate at Burnetts, added: “Burnetts has quickly established itself as one of the go-to corporate teams in Newcastle for SMEs and larger businesses.

“Our ambition is to build further on this over the next 12 months, and Chris and Pamela will play a key role in that growth.

“We are very excited about the opportunities ahead in Newcastle and the wider North East.”
