Handelsbanken moves to larger Morpeth base
A relationship bank has expanded its presence in Morpeth town centre with a move to larger offices and a new long-term lease.
Handelsbanken Morpeth has relocated within Sanderson Arcade, taking 2690sq ft of office space at Owen House after 16 years in Davison House.
The new office is around 800sq ft larger than its previous premises and brings the team together in one specially designed and fitted-out space.
Handelsbanken, one of the original office occupiers at Sanderson Arcade, has also committed to a new ten-year lease, underlining its long-term commitment to Morpeth and the wider Northumberland business community.
The bank has invested significantly in transforming the former Karbon Homes office into a new environment for staff and customers.
A core team of eight staff is based at the Morpeth office, with additional Handelsbanken employees also regularly using Sanderson Arcade as a base.
Neil Black, branch manager at Handelsbanken Morpeth, said: “We are proud to be part of the Morpeth business community for the last 16 years and Sanderson Arcade has been an excellent home for our branch during that time.
“As our business has grown, it became important for us to bring our team together into one larger office space which better supports the way we work and the service we provide to both our private and corporate customers.
“We are delighted to be making this investment in our new offices at Owen House and we are looking forward to welcoming customers to the new space and provide space in the future to expand the team in line with our growth ambitions.”
The move comes as further activity gathers pace at Sanderson Arcade, with plans submitted for M&S to expand its foodhall and convert part of its upper floor into town centre apartments.
SG Aesthetics is also relocating to one of the Davison House offices.
James Shepherd, managing director of Dransfield Properties, which owns and manages Sanderson Arcade, added: “Handelsbanken has been part of the Sanderson Arcade community since the very early days of the development and it is fantastic to see the business continuing to grow and invest here in Morpeth.
“The new offices at Owen House are a prestigious addition to the Arcade and we are very pleased that Handelsbanken has chosen to expand within the scheme.
“It is great to see the confidence that companies have in both Sanderson Arcade and Morpeth – we wish Neil and the team every success in their new offices.”
