Yorkshire pet food supplier joins European group
A Leeds-based pet food supplier has been acquired by one of Europe’s fastest-growing natural pet food groups.
Yorkshire Raw Feeds has been bought by The Nutriment Company (TNC), the Swedish-headquartered natural pet food business backed by Nordic private equity firm Axcel.
Founded by industry veterans James Glover and James McVeigh, Yorkshire Raw Feeds has built a strong reputation across Yorkshire and the North of England as a supplier of DEFRA-approved raw pet food and natural treats.
The company, which operates from Farnley, Leeds, evolved from an established poultry processing company and has grown alongside increasing demand for raw pet food products.
As part of the deal, managing director James will remain with the business to help lead its continued development under TNC ownership.
He said: “The sale and purchase of Yorkshire Raw Feeds marks an exciting new chapter for the business and will enable us to build on the success we have achieved over many years.”
The transaction was led by Leeds law firm Blacks Solicitors, which advised the shareholders of Yorkshire Raw Feeds on all aspects of the sale.
Rebecca Holden, partner and head of corporate at Blacks Solicitors, led the deal, supported by trainee Leon Cordero and specialists from the firm’s commercial, intellectual property, employment, real estate, regulatory and data protection teams.
Rebecca added: "We are delighted to have supported Yorkshire Raw Feeds on this important milestone.
“James and Jim have built a highly respected business and this transaction represents an exciting next chapter for the company.
“It has been a pleasure to work alongside them throughout the process and we wish the team every success for the future.”
Blacks worked alongside Jon Robinson of Parisi Tax and accountants Philip Samuels and Jonathan Davis of Beaumonts throughout the transaction.
