Switalskis strengthens serious injury leadership team

Leeds-headquartered law firm Switalskis has strengthened the leadership of its serious injury practice with a series of senior appointments and promotions designed to enhance specialist support for clients and their families.

Senior associate solicitor Sam McFadyen has been appointed head of the firm’s brain injury team.

With more than 25 years of experience in serious injury litigation, Sam will lead a team of six specialists supporting clients affected by life-changing brain injuries.

A Legal 500 Recommended Lawyer and APIL-accredited senior litigator, he has extensive experience helping families secure rehabilitation, care and financial support following serious accidents.

The enhanced leadership structure also includes the recent promotion of Katrina Elsey to director.

She continues to support the department alongside managing director of serious and brain injury Mark Hollinghurst.

In addition, long-standing Switalskis lawyer and solicitor advocate John McQuater has been appointed technical director.

An APIL-accredited practitioner, John will provide strategic oversight on complex and high-value cases while continuing his advocacy work in higher courts.

The changes reflect the continued growth of Switalskis’ serious injury practice and its commitment to developing specialist expertise across brain injury and catastrophic injury claims.

Sam said: “This is an exciting opportunity and I’m incredibly proud to lead a team with such depth of expertise and commitment.

“Our focus is always on doing what is right for clients and their families at what is often the most challenging time in their lives.

“Brain injury cases require a truly holistic approach.

“Early rehabilitation, coordinated support, and securing the right financial arrangements can make a huge difference to recovery, independence and family life.

“I aim to build on our strong foundations and ensure we continue to deliver the highest standards of care and expertise while further establishing Switalskis as a leading firm for serious brain injury work nationally.”

Mark Hollinghurst, managing director of serious and brain injury at Switalskis, added: “Our serious injury team has grown significantly in recent years, in size, expertise and in the complexity of the work we handle.

“Sam’s well-earned promotion and the new structure reflect that momentum and ensures we continue to evolve as a modern, specialist team that is recognised nationally for the quality of its work.

“This investment reflects our commitment to providing an exceptional, specialist service to clients who have unfortunately suffered life-changing injuries and deliver them the best outcomes.”
