GSBC acquires North East consultancy
A North East building services engineering consultancy is set for further national growth after being acquired by a specialist engineering group.
TGA has been bought by Global Sustainable Buildings Consultancy (GSBC), which is backed by private equity firm Ansor, in a deal designed to support the next phase of the company’s expansion while retaining its existing leadership team and workforce.
Founded in 1962, TGA provides building services engineering consultancy across sectors including healthcare, education, commercial property, leisure and industrial developments.
The business employs around 40 people across offices in Newcastle, Stockton, Leeds, London and Stevenage.
TGA has delivered a range of landmark projects across the UK, including the Royal Victoria Infirmary Urgent Treatment Centre in Newcastle, The Light in Durham, Salford Cathedral, Callerton School and Durham Investigative Hub.
The acquisition brings TGA into GSBC’s growing portfolio of specialist consultancies, which focuses on delivering sustainable, high-performance building solutions while allowing businesses to retain their brands, leadership teams and client relationships.
Graeme Carr, partner at TGA, said: “We have built a strong reputation over many decades for delivering high-quality engineering solutions across a wide range of sectors, and joining GSBC provides a fantastic platform for the next stage of our growth.
“Importantly, the deal protects our people, our culture and our commitment to clients, while creating new opportunities for expansion across the UK.”
Clive Owen LLP advised TGA on the transaction, with corporate finance partner Michael Cantwell leading the sale process.
Michael added: “We were delighted to advise the partners throughout the sale process and achieving a successful outcome, none of which would have been possible without the collaborative expertise of all professionals involved.
“It was an exciting deal to be involved with, which presented significant operational synergies between both organisations.
“GSBC is an excellent strategic fit and we are confident the business will continue to thrive under its ownership.”
Legal advice was provided by Daniel Flounders and Samantha Higgins of Jacksons.
Samantha added: “We have been pleased to work together with Michael Cantwell and Clive Owen LLP to ensure the partners’ desired outcome and the future of TGA.
“Partnerships with our valued referrers always work better when there’s strong links.
“May we wish TGA every success in their future.”
