Winn Group 'retains home commitment' after growth
A legal sector operator says its commitment to its home region “remains as strong as ever” after reporting annual growth.
Winn Group saw turnover rise more than ten per cent to £217 million in latest annual figures as it generated in excess of £40 million operating cash.
Bosses say the numbers will deliver continued investment in people, technology and long-term growth plans at the Newcastle-headquartered operator.
Employing about 750 staff, the firm’s brands include Winn Solicitors, Winn National Accident Specialists and Winns Wills.
Bosses say it welcomed 100 new starters over the last year, with its roster including 19 apprentices and 31 staff progressing through the Solicitors Qualifying Examination programme.
Chris Birkett, Winn Group chief executive, said: “We're incredibly proud to be based in Newcastle, and equally proud of the talented people who have helped build this business.
“Our success has always been about investing in people; creating long-term opportunities in the North East remains one of our biggest priorities.
“We’re fortunate to have access to an excellent talent pool in the North East.
“Combining that talent with continued investment in technology gives us real confidence about the future.”
The business also delivered charitable support worth £154,146 during its financial year.
Donations included £40,000 to the Percy Hedley Foundation to help create a sensory garden and fund music therapy for pupils at Northern Counties School, and £15,000 to the Children's Heart Unit Fund to support music therapy on the children's heart ward at Newcastle's Freeman Hospital.
Chris added: “We’ve built the business in Newcastle and we’re committed to its future here.
“While recruitment this year is expected to focus on replacing existing roles, rather than significant expansion, our commitment to developing careers and creating opportunities in the region remains as strong as ever.”
