Legal firm vows to 'stay ahead' after 'landmark year'

A law firm has vowed to “stay ahead of market change” after chalking up a fifth consecutive year of growth.

Weightmans says it will “build a stronger, more connected business” amid demands created by “technology, new delivery models, private equity and changing client expectations”.

The Liverpool-headquartered firm made the pledge after seeing revenues rise 12 per cent to £162 million in the 2025/2026 year.

Net profit was 17 per cent better off at £17 million, with international revenue increasing 16 per cent year-on-year.

Bosses say the results “reflect continued disciplined progress against strategy” at the firm, whose office network includes bases in Glasgow, Birmingham, Cardiff, London, Manchester and Newcastle.

They add its progress was aided by a partnership with Irish law firm Whitney Moore, formed to “enhance cross-border capability”, new board and equity partnership appointments, and the launch of a Nottingham office.

Sarah Walton, managing partner, said: “This has been a landmark year.

“Delivering sustained growth in revenue, income and profit in a fast-changing market is a strong endorsement of our strategy and the strength of our client relationships.

“The legal sector is evolving quickly, with technology, new delivery models, private equity and changing client expectations reshaping the market.

“Our priority is to stay ahead of that change – building a stronger, more connected business, grounded in our core legal expertise and delivering consistently for our clients.”

Sarah added: “The strong results reflect the resilience of our core business and the progress we are making in growing higher-value work in areas such as public sector, regulatory, employment and advisory.”

Weightmans has further offices in Leeds and Leicester.
