Padel venture serves up seven-figure endeavour
A £1 million sporting venture is aiming for smashing success following its launch.
Pikup Padel has opened a base in Gateshead.
Bosses say the 11-indoor court endeavour will create up to ten jobs and help fill “a real gap in the market”.
The 33,500sq ft Follingsby Lane hub is led by Patrick Kendall and Derick Wilson.
Director Patrick said: “Padel is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world; people wanted to play, but there just weren’t enough courts.
“We’ve created a venue that welcomes everyone, whether you’re picking up a racket for the first time or already play regularly, and what makes the venue unique is the combination of size, location and quality.
“The project has been 11 months in the making, so we’re incredibly excited to finally open our doors.”
Pikup Padel was supported on its launch by Newcastle, Teesside and Cumbria-based law firm Muckle LLP.
Claire Naughten, real estate partner, added: “Padel is a rapidly growing sector and we’re pleased to have supported Paddy and Derick on this exciting development.
“It’s fantastic to see a facility of this scale opening in the region, and we look forward to seeing the continued growth of the sport and the opportunities it creates.”
