Housing provider rolls out retrofit programme

A housing provider has launched a programme of energy efficiency improvements that will benefit more than 500 homes across North Yorkshire and the Tees Valley.

Beyond Housing has appointed Houghton-le-Spring-based 0800 Repair to deliver retrofit assessments and upgrades designed to improve energy efficiency, reduce household bills and make homes more comfortable for residents.

The works will include cavity wall and loft insulation, improved ventilation, smart thermostats and low-energy lighting.

Jamie Whitaker, asset sustainability manager at Beyond Housing, said: “Beyond Housing is delighted to be partnering with 0800 Repair on our largest energy efficiency improvement programme to date, supporting the forthcoming Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards by 2030.

“The project will improve more than 500 homes across Tees Valley and North Yorkshire, with measures including loft and wall insulation, energy-efficient lighting, smart heating controls and more. 

“By improving the energy performance of our homes, we aim to help customers reduce energy consumption, lower their household bills and enjoy warmer, healthier living environments.

“We look forward to working closely with 0800 Repair to deliver meaningful and lasting benefits for our customers and communities.”

The 12-month contract, which includes an option to extend for a further year, was awarded through the Communities and Housing Investment Consortium (CHIC) framework.

Work is due to begin this week at selected properties in Scarborough and Whitby before being rolled out across the wider programme.

0800 Repair has recently secured a number of housing contracts, including projects with Home Group, North Star Housing Group, Northumberland County Council and Gateshead Borough Council.
