Military vehicle maker in Ukraine fire truck deal

A military vehicle maker has fired up its order book with an emergency response deal.

North Defence has delivered a heavy firefighting truck to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service.

Officials say the Rosenbauer Panther 8x8 will act as a “crash-and-rescue vehicle… and be used by rescuers in the aftermath of Russian strikes on Ukrainian fuel depots, warehouses and infrastructure”.

The delivery follows previous handovers of light mobility and general service vehicles to Ukraine’s GUR Special Forces.

Oliver North, founder and chief executive of North Defence, which operates from bases in Elland, near Huddersfield, and Luxembourg, said: “These guys are operating in some of the toughest conditions on the planet.

“Despite an indescribable amount of adversity, the courage, resilience and determination of this community remains a constant source of inspiration.

“What began as a partnership four years ago has evolved into a deep-rooted friendship.”

The firefighting vehicle delivery comes after North Defence was named Leeds United’s official defence partner.

Bosses say the deal will see North Defence’s branding feature around the club’s Elland Road ground on matchdays during the forthcoming Premier League season.
