BRM promotes paralegal to trainee solicitor

Yorkshire and Derbyshire law firm BRM has promoted private client paralegal Rabi Zaheer to trainee solicitor as she takes the next step towards qualification.

Rabi joined BRM in October 2025 after previously spending two years with the private client department of a national law firm, where she gained experience dealing with wills and lasting powers of attorney.

A Sheffield Hallam University graduate, she has also completed the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law.

Rabi will now undertake a two-year traditional training contract with BRM, gaining qualifying work experience while supporting clients and completing the Professional Skills Course on her journey to becoming a solicitor.

Rabi’s promotion comes as BRM continues to invest in early-career development, having also introduced Solicitors Qualifying Examination apprentice roles in 2025.

She said: “I only started my career at BRM as a paralegal last year, so to be progressing to a trainee solicitor in the private client department already is an exciting step for me.

“I’m grateful for the support and encouragement I have had from my colleagues over the past year.

“I am looking forward to continuing learning and developing my skills throughout my training contract, whilst I work towards qualifying as a solicitor.”

Rabi will be supervised by Richard Barlow, director and head of tax, trusts and estates (Sheffield), during her training contract.

He added: “I am delighted that we’re able to offer Rabi a training contract and enable her to progress her career here at BRM.

“Rabi joined our team in 2025, and her appointment has been a huge success.

“Naturally, we’re very keen to invest in talented junior lawyers and Rabi fits that bill.

“I am looking forward to seeing her progress and develop further with us and the private client team.”
