UK Process Agent Merges with Square Legal in Specialist Legal Services Deal
Specialist legal services provider UK Process Agent has formally merged with Leeds-based Square Legal, bringing the two businesses together to offer clients access to a wider range of legal support services.
UK Process Agent, which operates from Birmingham in the West Midlands, works with overseas individuals and international businesses involved in high-value cross-border agreements and transactions, providing specialist UK process agent services where a party is required to appoint an agent for service of process in England and Wales.
Following the merger, UK Process Agent will become part of the wider Square Legal firm while continuing to operate from its existing Birmingham location and under the UK Process Agent name.
Square Legal, based at Kingswood House in Pudsey, Leeds, provides legal support to individuals, businesses and corporate clients across the UK and internationally, including a number of specialist legal services.
The two businesses will now work closely across their respective locations, combining UK Process Agent's specialist expertise with the broader legal support available through Square Legal.
Katherine Palmer, Senior Legal Associate at Square Legal, said: "UKProcessAgent.com has built a highly specialised service supporting overseas individuals and international businesses involved in significant cross-border agreements and transactions, so there is a natural fit between the two businesses.
"Bringing UK Process Agent into Square Legal allows it to retain the specialist service its clients rely on, while giving those clients access to a much wider range of legal support should they need it.
"It also adds another specialist area to Square Legal and strengthens the range of services we're able to provide to clients in the UK and internationally."
A process agent, also referred to as an agent for service of process, is appointed to receive legal notices, proceedings and other formal documents on behalf of an overseas party. The appointment of a UK or English process agent is commonly required in cross-border agreements where the parties have agreed to English law and jurisdiction.
UK Process Agent provides appointments for overseas individuals, companies and other organisations entering into agreements that require a process agent in England and Wales. Its work includes supporting parties involved in international financing, lending and other commercial transactions and agreements.
The Birmingham operation will remain in place following the merger, with the UK Process Agent and Square Legal teams working collaboratively across both locations.
For existing UK Process Agent clients, the specialist process agent service will continue as before, but with the additional support and resources of the wider Square Legal firm available where required.
The merger also strengthens Square Legal's portfolio of specialist services as the firm continues to develop its offering to clients nationally and internationally.
