Atom bank in new chapter as co-founder steps down
A digital bank is entering a new chapter after its co-founder and chief executive stepped down following more than a decade at the helm.
Durham-based Atom bank has announced the departure of Mark Mullen, who had led the business since its founding in 2014.
During his tenure, Atom developed into a profitable digital-only bank and has lent more than £5.8 billion to customers.
Mark and the board agreed the time was right for new leadership to oversee the bank’s next phase of growth, with Mark remaining available to support the business until the end of the year.
Andrew Marshall, who has been with Atom for more than a decade and served as chief financial officer for the past four years, has moved into the role of interim chief executive.
The board will now begin a market search for a permanent successor, with a focus on appointing a leader to drive long-term growth and value creation.
