Gordons extends growth streak to six years

A Yorkshire law firm has extended its growth run to six consecutive years after recording double-digit increases in turnover and profit.

Leeds-headquartered Gordons increased net profit by 12 per cent to £14.6 million in the year to March 31, 2026, while turnover rose 11 per cent to £26.3 million.

Since 2020, the firm has grown net profit by 77 per cent and turnover by 46 per cent.

The momentum has continued into the new financial year, with turnover during the first five months running 11 per cent ahead of the same period last year.

Bosses say growth has been driven by the performance of Gordons’ commercial teams, which recorded a combined 13 per cent year-on-year rise in revenue, alongside new client wins and expanded relationships with existing clients.

Gordon’s client list includes AO, Iceland Foods, Morrisons, Wren Kitchens, Cloud Nine, JMG Group, Molson Coors, Evri and Houseful, the parent company of Zoopla.

Reflecting the firm’s performance, all employees will receive a bonus equivalent to five per cent of their annual salary.

Victoria Davey, Gordons’ managing partner, said: “Our continued growth is due to the lasting relationships that we establish with clients.

“Trust is earned and our success is built upon that premise.

“When this is combined with our entrepreneurial culture, it allows us to think and act decisively for our clients, providing them with advice that delivers the right outcomes.

“We keep things simple and do the basics well.

“These are traits we see in our best clients.

“We have had a positive start to our latest financial year and aim to achieve further controlled growth for the remainder of it.”

Gordons, which employs 184 people, also recruited more than 25 paralegals across a range of projects during the year.

The firm is also marking the 15th anniversary of its legal apprenticeship scheme and has partnered with Harehills-based charity CATCH to support social mobility and help young people fulfil their potential.

Victoria added: “Alan Milburn’s interim report on young people and work published this May highlighted a range of youth unemployment issues for those aged 16 to 24.

“The tightening job market and the impact of AI makes it really tough for youngsters.

“We remain committed to continuing to play our part in creating a variety of opportunities for those of that age.

“We know from experience that there are determined and highly capable individuals within this cohort with great attitudes who just need a chance to prove themselves.”
